October Computer Class Newsletter Greater Visions Computer class is going along very well. I am greeted with smiles and enthusiasm which leads me to believe they are enjoying class as much as I am. We have spent the month of October working two different pieces of software. The first, Same or Different was set up like a workbook page, with "recess" breaks after every two pages. The "work" pages made the children compare pictures and find either matches or the one that didn’t belong. I have to agree with the children though; the recess games were the best part. These games required some pretty fancy mouse work. At first the children seemed a little frustrated, but the improvement over the few weeks was amazing! Next we moved onto a very extensive game, Plumo goes to the Zoo. This game has a number of skills worked into the different facets of the game, and the children did a very good job. The students are seeing the difference between clicking and dragging and click and stick, as well as having some really tough accurate clicking games. Click and drag is still challenging to some, but I have seen some real improvement over the month. Next week we will finish up this software, by a free choice day. The students can each play whichever part of the game was their favorite, rather than what I tell them to do. Then we will move onto to something new. As always, if you ever have any questions about the class, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Email is usually the best method, and I do check it at least once a day – oconnells14@bc.edu or call 781-229-6989. Please note: If you have opted to make monthly payments, the November tuition of $40.00 is due the first of each month, which is the next class. *I have had many requests for optional payment methods, such as paying the year in full, or three or four months at a time. Many people set up recurring bank payments. I am open to working with you for whatever method is convenient for you. Just let me know. We have a terrific group of students they are, not only smart, but entertaining and personable too!Sincerely, Barbara O’Connell (aka: Miss Barbie)
